This past Saturday, about a hundred people, including divers, children and neighbors gathered at the marina of Puerto de Mazarrón to participate in the XVIII edition Seabed Cleaning and beaches Mazarrón Bay.
The successful journey this year has been organized jointly by the City of Mazarrón and dive centers "Diving Hispania" Dive Center Southeast "Bachisub", the Centre Diving School "Friends of Blue" and "Rivemar".
Also helped the Fishing Club Puerto de Mazarrón, which helped in cleaning the beach Bolnuevo and Construcciones "Francisco Coy", which donated the refreshments that were shared at the dinner organized by the Department of Environment.
Red Cross volunteers Mazarrón and controlled at all times that the appointment is properly developed.
In total about 500 kilos were collected waste from the seabed and beach Bolnuevo in a day in which, in defense of the environment, participants could also enjoy a day together.
The event began with opening remarks by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, who thanked those present "your selfless participation in this activity will continue supporting and strengthening, as is the pioneer fund cleanup of Spain. Hope that next year will be many more. "
Next, the researcher of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO), Julio Mas, gave a talk to the participants in which he explained the importance of maintaining healthy marine biodiversity and what it was like to be collected from the seabed and which not.
After the talk, the divers took to the depths of the Bay of Mazarrón to start garbage collection in several shifts, coming from from the dock to the marina to a total of six boatloads of participants who cleaned various areas from the island to the Azohía.
Moreover, the tourist train of the municipality and the tour company "37 Degrees" carried components Fishing Club Puerto de Mazarrón and several children, who were accompanied by their mothers and some other brave grandmother, until Bolnuevo beach where they performed a cleaning it.
As said Councilman Coastal Services and Civil Protection, Miguel M ª García, "next year we will work to be many more children who participate in the activity."
The mayor, accompanied by the Councillor for the Environment David Fernandez, presented the diplomas to participants once they had tasted the delicious paella made by the company "The Tyrol".
This meal served and binding act of coexistence between different divers and dive centers also are an active part of a new tourist association recently created and will soon be presented to the media in the Mazarrón Town Council, who has been promoting the associations to build a prosperous future for the town.
