Interesting viewpoints come together in a ilusionantes First Conference on the Environment in the Mediterranean Basin (22/10/2012)

From last Thursday through Saturday were held at the hotel "La Cumbre" Puerto de Mazarrón the First Conference on Biodiversity and Environmental Issues in the Mediterranean Basin.

A conference for which they have been over a hundred participants, as well as prominent figures and researchers related to this subject have offered interesting insights on diverse topics.

Specifically, attendees discussed the reform of the new Ley de Costas, Spanish coastal development, marine reserves and fisheries and the effects of climate change in the Mediterranean, among others.

Among these views highlighted the National Award for the Environment, Peter Costa Morata, who advocated revising the current capitalist economic model that since its inception under the liberal doctrine has led to a separation of the bonds between people and Environment.

Morata Costa said that "now is a good time to analyze the capitalist model and its precepts, as they do not fit in with the environment."

In this sense, Costa Morata opted for the green economy from the current development model.

The sessions were attended by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, who was commissioned to inaugurate with the director general of the Environment, Amador Lopez, and its closure.

The coordinator of this meeting was the council's Environment Mazarrón Town Hall, David Fernandez, who has been very happy with "the successful development of these days that we can describe ilusionantes, since there are many ideas that we worked and continue to work on that next year. "

The speakers have been, in turn, "very satisfied with the implementation of this forum set to become the meeting point for the defense of the environment at regional level" and that the mayor wanted to thank his presence.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, stressed that "this event has become a good starting point to learn to address issues that are of vital interest to citizens."

In this sense, the mayor explained that "we have many issues that we face as our General Plan or environmental issues that affect us. Henceforth we will be much better prepared to deal with them through this initiative we have learned enormously ".
