This morning the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, and the rector of the University of Murcia (UMU), José Antonio Cobacho, inaugurated the International Congress "Philip II and Almazarrón. The local construction of a global empire" held until Saturday at the hall of the House of Culture.
The ceremony was also attended by the manager of the Foundation CAJAMURCIA, Pascual Martinez, responsible for Institutional Relations "La Caixa", José Antonio Meseguer, the Councillor for Culture of the City of Mazarrón, Maria Celeste Soria, and the director of the committee Congress scientist and Professor of Modern History, Contemporary and Latin of the UMU, José Javier Ruiz.
During the three days of the conference will bring together in Mazarrón prestigious Spanish historians from universities such as Murcia, Seville and Valencia, as well as universities in France, Italy, Chile, Mexico and Portugal.
Also participating students, teachers and scientists through Saturday, during the course of the six sessions and eight presentations consisting of Congress, presented to a total of forty-five communications.
The inaugural "Run Worlds and have eyes for them. Culture and Globalization under Philip II" has been borne by Fernando Bouza Alvarez, Complutense University of Madrid.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, has been particularly proud at the opening of the congress "that began to take shape a year ago and has life thanks to the collaboration of institutions as important and prestigious as those with us today and I give infinite thanks ".
The mayor pointed out that this cultural event is part of the celebration of the 440 anniversary of the granting of the privilege of Villa that during "Nearly a year has been developing successfully with major exhibitions, cultural events and sporting new evidence" to which adds this "important congress with which we have a new opportunity to add value to our historical and cultural heritage".
For his part, José Antonio Cobacho highlighted "the magnitude of this Congress in the light of the great software which has been prepared, packed major conferences and keynote speakers," the mayor ratificándole "having a magnitude greater than that imagined ".
Both Pascual Martinez and Jose Antonio Meseguer have declared their firm commitment to culture and foundations have shown extremely pleased to participate in this conference which is a clear commitment to history, education and culture at all levels.
The scientific director and professor of Congress UMU, José Javier Ruiz, explained that this conference "will provide a fresh perspective and unknown society of the time as it shall be the ordinary people which was then moved the empire. "
Marcos Alberto Martin of the University of Valladolid, Francisco Andujar castle of Almeria, Manuel Herrero Sanchez of Pablo de Olavide, or Maria Angeles Perez Samper of the Universitat de Barcelona will be among the speakers.
