The Department of Culture of the City of Mazarrón has convened the First Christmas Short Story Contest "to encourage creative writing among young people, also projecting another activity within the Christmas programming which is usually held in local libraries and Mazarrón schools ", as announced by the Councillor for Culture and Education of the consistory, Maria Celeste Soria.
The contest consists of two modes.
The first one is aimed at young people between 10 and 13 years, while the second may participate in those with an age between 14 and 17 years.
The theme of the stories should be centered Christmas themes and events and characters of the story should deal around the streets, monuments, sites and districts of the municipality of Mazarrón.
A jury composed of persons skilled in the art will carry out the decision.
For each of the three modes will be equal prizes in both categories.
The grand prize winner will win a "tablet", while the second prize is an "e-book".
There will also be a third prize for both modalities consisting mp4 player with headphones.
The stories must be no longer than 2 pages A-4 double-spaced on one side.
In addition, the centers where the studies are given the winners will receive a set of books for the school library.
The deadline for submitting stories that can be presented both in the Library "Gómez Jordana" as in Mazarron Port Library, ends on Friday December 14 at 14 pm.
The contest rules are also available on both libraries, as well as in the different schools in the municipality and in www.mazarron.es website.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, wished that "participation is equally high in the poetry contest to celebrate for the first time earlier this year. Sure that the initiative will be well received because the prizes are very succulent and motivate our students to literary creation, which is the ultimate goal for which we call this new activity. "
