The Assault Prevention Plan for Professionals of the Region of Murcia is developed since 2005 to provide comprehensive solutions to hostile environments
The Ministry of Health and Social Policy reported today that the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 3 of Totana has sentenced a woman and her son as authors of a lack of constraints for assaulting a primary care physician at the Health Center Mazarrón.
The judge has sentenced the two assailants to a term of twenty days of fine of five dollars each day and to compensate the physician with 150 euros for moral damages.
It also prohibits the professional approach assaulted over a period of three months.
The incident occurred in July 2012, in the Health Center Mazarrón, when a woman and her son tried to obtain certain benefits improperly.
The general director of Human Resources Murcia Health Service (SMS), Pedro Zaragoza, said that "for the regional government priority is to prevent situations of hostility, so that different actions have been developed as a preventive measure."
Complaints in 2012
In 2012, according to data from the Directorate-General, filed a total of 48 complaints to the Security Forces of the State or judged by professionals from SMS attacks.
Pedro Zaragoza explained that this figure is "very similar" to that of 2011, year in which 62 complaints were formalized.
Also in 2012 were issued five judgments they saw the attackers as perpetrators of a crime of assault and penalties that led, in some cases, were up to one year in prison with fines of up to 600 euros.
Article 550 of the Penal Code considers as perpetrators of a crime of assault "who undertake the authority, its agents or servants, or using force against them, seriously intimidate or active resistance also make them seriously, when they are running office functions or connection with them. "
In this sense, Zaragoza recalled that "Murcia was the first region of Spain in which a judgment recognized as a crime of indecent assault an officer to a Nursing Assistant."
Actions against violence
The SMS, dependent of Health and Social Policy, promotes since July 2005 Assault Prevention Plan for Professionals of the Region of Murcia to improve user information systems and streamline the management of resources and to offer solutions to hostile environments.
In addition, Health has a website, launched in 2006, which were validated in 2012 a total of 204 attacks compared to 242 last year.
So last year were attacked 241 professionals, of which 66 sought legal advice.
The general director of Human Resources said, "This plan has enabled a reduction in the number of attacks. Thus, when comparing 2012 and 2009 was a decrease of about 24 percent."
He added, "has increased the number of complaints resulting from the awareness and sensitization of professionals."
Among the initiatives undertaken by Health on this matter should be added the launch last year of the online training course 'healthy management of hostility', included in the Training Plan 2012 SMS Occupational Risk to facilitate the professional knowledge to confront and successfully resolve potential hostile situations.
