This past Tuesday, to mark the "Day Book", was presented at the Universidad Popular de Mazarrón (UPM) the publication that lists the VIII Proceedings of the Conference "Carlantum", which this time deal with the issue of mining.
The event was chaired by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, and was attended by the Director of the UPM, José María López, and researchers Jesus Bellon, Benjamin Rubio and Juan Francisco Belmar.
Also present during the meeting Councillor for Rural Development, Magdalena Mendez.
The publication includes five papers that address various aspects of mining in general and in particular Mazarrón.
The first, entitled "Geology and Mining in Mazarrón", is signed by Rafael Arana.
"From ore to metal. Mining-metallurgical Works in antiquity" is the second one and reaches the hands of Jesus Bellon.
After Benjamin Rubio presents her study entitled "A mining-metallurgical facility in the ports of Santa Barbara".
The fourth work, more aimed at knowing the underground mining, entitled "The caving and geological heritage and historical ground" and is signed by Ignacio Nicolas.
Fifth, Juan Fco Belmar presents "The Importance of plane representation property Coto Minero de Mazarrón (1900-1960)" and, finally, Pedro Egea signature "contemporary mining in Mazarrón (1940-1950)" .
The publication also includes a sixth publication on "Youth Radio Mazarrón" Jerónimo García Jorquera.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, explained that "it is always said that the heritage of Mazarrón is very important, but one of the most intelligent initiatives to put in value these days has been to create and perform these publications. Much wealth we have, but you need to take it to the paper or digital format, to transcend to third parties either at the municipal, regional, national or international. "
The mayor also noted that "Carlantum has provided a good basis for launching more projects like" Phicaria ", which this year has again been a success."
To Ginés Campillo "both are initiatives to promote it, not only open avenues of study and research, but also of Mazarrón brand marketing."
Precisely, Jose Maria Lopez made an assessment of the release of "Phicaria" this year.
It said that "over the scientific and quantitative data of the 98 inscriptions have been recorded, Phicaria editing has been a before and after for two reasons."
In this sense, the director of the UPM specified that "in the first place the fact in itself to hold the second edition means it is a project that starts walking and is unlikely to be strengthened in the future. And the second is the publication of the minutes of the first edition that reflect the seriousness with which the project is being met, placing Mazarrón within the international scientific context to the extent that the publication reaches museums and universities around the world.
