Mazarrón has once again outdone this year in regards to the distinctive town beaches qualify as they have earned five blue flags-one more than last year-to the Alamillo beaches, Rihuete, Harbor, Bay-La Reya, and Playa Grande-Castellar.
This represents 21% of the flags in the region granted the 2013 edition being, after Cartagena with 8, the municipality has obtained most blue flags in the region, and also giving the fact that Murcia has lost in its total count two Mazarrón flags against winning one.
Last year has been obtained over a flag, although there have been changes in the award winning beaches.
Among the repeated winning beaches Alamillo, Port and Bay-La Reya, while Rihuete beaches and Playa Grande-Castellar were the new awardees.
Who lost the award with last year has been the Nares beach.
The Councillor for Tourism, Maria Celeste Soria, said that "know the reason Nares has lost its blue flag, since the system maintenance, upkeep, services, etc..'s The same as in previous years."
The Blue Flag is an award and a system of certification of environmental quality created and managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 1987.
The FEE is almost 74 nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), one for each participating state.
ADEAC is the member responsible for FEE Spain awarded each year the Blue Flag to beaches that meet the criteria periodically reviewed, agreed and increasingly demanding of law, health, cleanliness, safety and environmental information and management.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, has been very satisfied with "the favorable evolution of the awards granted to our beaches, they show the great effort that we are making the City Council for further improvement in this matter and in achieving greater excellence in tourism ".
The mayor stressed that "we have managed, through good management and constant work on our beaches, a very positive development from 2 beaches awarded in 2009, 2010 and 2011, four in 2012 and five in 2013" .
