120 "geocachers" coming from the most diverse parts of the country such as Madrid, Soria, Valladolid, Malaga, Valencia, Alicante and Albacete and of all ages participate this morning in "Geomaza, Phoenicians and Miners", a quote from geocaching is searching for "caches" (treasures) far and wide across the municipality through a GPS device.
This activity, present in more than 200 countries and nearly 2 million "caches" all over the world, is organized by "Geobando Murcia" in collaboration with the City of Mazarrón.
The participants have enjoyed big with finding the caches as some have been placed in the water, the first time that some had to delve into the sea to find any of these "treasures", which are usually boxes but sometimes also stones, bird nests or tree bark.
Within each of them there is a guestbook where "geocacher" records his step with his signature.
The "geocachers" have started the day at the marina of Mazarron where they were received by the council of Youth and Sports, Andrew James.
From there guided tours have initiated that has led to the Municipal Archaeological Museum "Salt Roman Factory", the Roman house of the street The Age, the Interpretation Centre and the hillock Phoenician Ship Forum.
In all these places had hidden "caches" as participants showed them their GPS devices.
In the afternoon, have carried out a "flashmob" in Castellar ride after spending the day looking for "treasures" and discovering the archaeological, historical and natural heritage of the town.
The activity continues tomorrow at 09:30 am with a "geochocolatada" Rihuete beach and cleaning of beaches, surely, they will find other caches, because they are more than 150 hidden in all Mazarrón and what makes it the 15th municipality in Spain with more number of hidden caches.
