This past Saturday was held at the petanque courts of La Canada, the 'Second Regional Petanque 12 Hours Day' organized by the Mazarron Bowls Club 'Costa Calida' with the collaboration of the Department of Sports City of Mazarrón.
The winning team of the event was the club 'Santa Eulalia' Totana, while the club 'The Carrasca' Alhama de Murcia was in second place.
The club podium completeness 'Pigeons' of Murcia, third, and fourth was one of the teams representing the club Mazarron.
12 teams arrived from different parts of the Region participated in this sporting event that was attended by the Councillor for Sports City of Mazarrón, Andrew James.
The event, in addition to its sporty character, was a day of living among the participants, who shared a meal at the Day Centre de Mazarrón to regain strength.
It was in that place where Mazarron Bowls Club 'Costa Calida' paid tribute to one of its members died recently, Vicente Sanchez Lopez.
Honoree's family attended the day center where the club president, Ginés Blaya, gave him a few words of appreciation and he also sang a folk verse partner in its report that was applauded by those present.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, wanted to move "My congratulations to bowls club 'Costa Calida' for the success of this appointment and for his work in promoting the practice of this sport in our town".
The mayor also stressed "the important value of this type of event to promote healthy competition and coexistence between teams from the region."
