The Local Police Department of the City of Mazarrón has joined the Campaign Monitoring and Control Special School Bus' which has organized nationwide General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) under the Ministry of Interior.

Thus, between days 04 and November 10, the local police in Mazarrón will perform various checks to all those school buses circulating in the municipality of Mazarrón.

As explained the councilor of the area, Isidro Coy, "the local police made several inspections to check that all school vehicles transporting meet the requirements set out in the current Royal Decree 443/2001 of 27 April on Conditions of School Bus Safety and Child ".

Local Police The mayor added that "this campaign is in addition to being carried out on child restraints in vehicles, which are intended to improve road safety."

Among other duties, the RD 443/2001 addresses the need that children are accompanied by an appropriately qualified person on the go and the obligation to have an unlimited liability insurance, verifying that the technical and safety conditions of the vehicle are those required by regulations and special requirements to be met by the driver himself, such as driving license, driving times and rest.

Also, the DGT wants attention this campaign in the special care must be educators, parents and drivers minors gaining access to or alighting from buses.

As indicated, 90% of accidents occur during school transportation are given at the time or in the immediate and in many cases, it is caused by distractions abuses.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, stressed that "it is essential to comply with the rules on School Transportation as many daily trips that are held throughout the country and there are thousands of schools for which both government as transport companies, we must ensure ".

The mayor said he hoped "this special campaign throw good results and that minimizes irregularities contemplated by the security forces involved in this campaign DGT".
