The club 'Lions International - Mazarrón Bay' has organized two charity walks under the slogan 'Move for Diabetes' to be held this weekend as both Puerto Mazarron, with the cooperation of the City of Mazarrón.
The appointment has been made by the Councillor for Sports, Andrew James, the president of that body, Sid Worland, and members of the "Lions Mazarron" Chelo Virginia Barker and Murcia.
This Saturday November 9 will be held the first organized by the association ride departing at 10 am from the Plaza del Callao in Mazarrón.
They can engage both children and adults and the proceeds "will go to fund the travel of several children with diabetes to a special camp for diabetics," said Virginia Barker, who added that "under 12 will not have to pay for the activity while that from that age, participants must pay 3 euros or 5 euros if you want to grab a shirt "
On Sunday November 10 will repeat the activity but in Puerto de Mazarrón.
At the same time, participants will leave the square of the Autonomous Regions of Puerto de Mazarrón to walk the boardwalk.
In both places will enable a booth where interested parties may register and participate in a walk of 3 kilometers, aimed at children, such as in a longer than 6 kilometers, designed for adults.
Barker thanked the City Council for their help conducting this activity and has stated that "30 minutes of exercise a day reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 40%."
Furthermore, in the stands will be installed both in Mazarrón Callao Square (next to the weekly market) and the square of the Autonomous Communities Port "controls will free all those who wish to know if they have this disease."
Councillor for Sports, Andrew James, has encouraged citizens to "join this joint initiative with which we face a very common disease such as diabetes."
