The Municipal Council of the City of Mazarrón at its meeting of 29 October 2013, initiated proceedings to appoint 'Favorite Son' from Mazarron to Salvador Zamora Navarro and Francisco Salvador Jimenez as "Adopted Son of Mazarrón.
All citizens, associations, companies and institutions that are interested in showing their membership can do so at the registration of this City, until next December 5.
Salvador Zamora Navarro was born in Mazarrón, his family has held a pharmacy in our town since 1910.
He studied at the University of Granada, a PhD at the same university, where he has taught.
He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Newcastle (United Kingdom).
He is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Murcia, Professor of Physiology, and former director of the Nutrition Research Group at the University of Murcia (which he founded), Academician of the Academy of Constituent Farmacia Santa Maria of Spain of the Region of Murcia and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Academy of Gastronomy in the Region of Murcia.
Zamora Navarro has developed his research within the field of Nutrition.
He has authored more than 250 publications and has directed more than 30 doctoral theses.

Among his numerous awards is noteworthy that the only Spanish was honored with the 'Living Legends' given at the World Congress of Nutrition organized by the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS), held last September in Granada.

This whole wetland with environmental remediation of the former waterworks, today Regional Centre of Environmental Agents Mazarrón, were the finishing touch to a task unfinished selfless dedication for 27 years to environmental protection in the municipalities of Mazarrón and Aguilas.
