The mayor, Ginés Campillo, thanked the visit and welcomed the coordination between local police and Guardia Civil
The Government delegate, Joaquín Bascuñana, stressed this morning the 16% decline in the number of crimes and offenses and 12% increase in arrests in Mazarrón, where he co-chaired, with the mayor, Ginés Campillo, the Local Board Security of village.
"Therefore, having produced less crime, more cases have been resolved," said the Chief, who attributed the good figures analyzed in this meeting to the excellent collaboration between local police and Guardia Civil, a circumstance that also welcomed the mayor.
In addition to general security issues affecting the town, Campillo Bascuñana transmitted to the concern in the village by the number of breath tests conducted last November 17 coinciding with the pilgrimage of the Miracle.
"These controls are planned in advance in an agenda that is made with more than one month in advance in which headquarters determines how they will develop.
In Mazarrón was recalculations for purely preventive reasons, to prevent any accidents, which is ultimately what is to occur.
But it is not a specific issue of Mazarrón, but this type of control is done in many other parts of the region, "said Bascuñana.
That particular day, the delegate added, from 17 to 21 hours, 1080 breath tests were performed, and 1050 of them were negative.
Only 30, representing 2.77% were positive.
"It shows a great responsibility to the people. Control recaudatorio not performed with character, for the townspeople knew exactly where it was producing.
The result shows that the preventive nature of it gave very positive results, "he added.
Despite this, and although there is no obligation to do so, the government delegate has agreed to notify the municipality of similar controls that may occur as a result of future public events.
The Government delegate, who later moved the headquarters of the Guardia Civil de Mazarrón, completed the institutional day visiting all state agencies with a presence in Mazarrón, Harbour Master, Social Marine Institute and eventually plant crops Mazarrón Oceanographic Centre of Murcia.
