During the 7th and 8th of March, Mazarrón held the conference entitled 'Women of Good Arts' which met in the hall of the Cultural Center of Mazarrón teachers and students who reflected and discussed various issues relating to art and creation in the female world.
This conference, held on the occasion of 'Women's Day', was inaugurated by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Development and Training, University of Murcia (UMU), Fernando Martin, the director of the Headquarters Permanent University Extension UMU in the town, Fernando Navarro, and teachers and coordinators of Congress, Leonor Mercedes Saez and Arriaga.
The speakers at this conference addressed topics as varied as women's representation in art, female stereotypes in Italian cinema, the meanings of 'The Time Couture', the life and work Jane Austen, Marisa Madieri or Italian artist Rafaella Carra .
There was also time for Italian painters of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, for female literary circles in the sixteenth century and even to talk about writers in the Region of Murcia that are not well known but also deserved their space have been women who had fought their dreams in difficult times and in which women challenged the establishment.
As an example of this situation, the conference with the participation of the artist Concha Sanchez Lorente Mazarron.
It needed all her naturalness and sympathy telling stories about how they faced daily creation process and differences, and many possibilities, there are now addressing the needs and difficulties of old.
Concha Sanchez, who was 'Women Mazarron in 1997', also remembered his mother and other women of the time and friends and how they were making their way in a time when society was dominated by the male figure.
