Mazarrón is included in ‘The Route of the Phoenicians’ of the European Cultural Itinerary
The Municipal Plenum of the Town Hall of Mazarrón approved yesterday by unanimity to get the ownership of the old headquarter of the Guardia Civil in exchange of undertaking the improvement works valued in 440.694 euros in the place that the Guardia Civil holds in Puerto de Mazarrón. The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, informed of this transaction after explaining that "after several meetings with the Ministry of Interior, which put up for sale the building and the surrounding land valued in 1.200.000 euros, we have got a beneficial agreement for both administrations as, besides having with an infrastructure in centre of Mazarrón, the headquarter of El Puerto will be also rehabilitated that needs urgent improvement works".
The Mayor of Mazarrón also presented a proposal so that the town of Mazarrón is included in the European Cultural Route of the Council of Europe "The Route of the Phoenicians', authorizing to the Mayor of the Town Hall of Mazarrón to take any steps that are necessary related to this initiative. The Mayor highlighted "the value of that Mazarrón is included in this route for the important tourism promotion that will mean for the town, with the annual investment of the project between 3,000 and 4,000 euros. An acceptable investment by the Town Hall for the great benefits that it can bring us". The proposal was approved with votes in favor of the government team.
Although initially came from mayoralty department, a proposal of all political groups represented in the plenum was also approved in which asked to the Justice Ministry Department the maintenance of the Civil Records as free public service by the administration of Justice or, failing that , by staff of the town halls. As explained Ginés Campillo, "the importance of keeping this public service is essential because if it disappears of the town halls, the citizen will not understand why this free service is kept away. This will mean to have to move to another town to make these arrangements and also paying. "The point was, of course, approved by unanimity.
Four motions were also approved which came from different political groups. The first, which was approved with the votes in favor of the government team, came from the municipal group Izquierda Unida – Los Verdes and asked to the general direction of the Environment to the inclusion of the ZEPA of the Lagoons of Las Moreras in the Management Plan of Natural Resources (PORN) of the protected area of Almenara, Moreras and Cabo Cope.
It was also approved with the votes of the Government Team, a motion of the Municipal Socialist Group which urged to the council of Health of Murcia Region to paralyze its intention of closing the service of emergency of the hospital Santa María del Rossel of Cartagena. Also, it was agreed that Municipal Plenum, through an statement signed by all political parties, agree to require to the the Regional Government that fulfills with the acquired commitments with the users of the Area II of Health , keeping Rosell Hospital as a general hospital and with all services and equipment necessary to ensure the public health care of quality.
The last two motions, passed by unanimity, were presented jointly by the Popular Municipal Group. In the first one was agreed to dedicate a public space in Mazarrón to the former – President of the Government Adolfo Suarez, for his contribution to the development of the democracy and public liberties in Spain. In the same sense another motion of the Grupo Popular was passed in which requested to dedicate a street in Puerto de Mazarrón to Catalina Hernández Sánchez, who was for many years medical personnel in Puerto de Mazarrón, highlighting in her work for her dedication, care, dedication, commitment and, above all, for their health care to people at any time and any day of the week, gaining the affection and esteem of all citizens.
Also, and before of the celebration of this ordinary Plenum corresponding to April, it was held an extraordinary Plenum to choose by draw to the citizens who will compose the polls in the next European Parliament elections that will hold on Sunday, 25th May. Specifically, 9 persons were appointed by each of the 26 polling stations spread over the town to take up the duties of chairman, first substitute of president, second substitute of president, first spokesperson, the first substitute of the first spokesperson, second substitute of first spokesperson, second spokesperson, first substitute of the second spokesperson and second substitute of the second spokesperson.
