The Department of Local Police, through the tutor agent, is holding a conference on prevention and awareness of school bullying and cyberbullying in schools in the county during the month of May.
They are being given information about the serious consequences and damage that can have different types of attacks that occur both in the classroom and through new technologies by children.
At the same, it is also informed about the dangers of sending compromising photos or sexual content, called 'sexting', which derives sometimes bullying behaviors through social networks;
or so-called 'grooming', which consists of harassment by an adult to a child pretending to be the latter for the purpose of blackmail or cited with retail, closely related to the issue of pedophilia.
Councilman Local Police, explained that "for all that, the tutor agent will perform a total of 29 lectures to 753 students from 1st and 2nd from ESO".
Furthermore, "brochures will be distributed with action guidelines for parents and students studying from 5th and 6th Primary, to students attending all secondary courses of the municipality, as these are the most likely ages to be victims of this type of behavior, "stated the mayor.
This initiative will also serve to collect different data through a victimization surveys in order to know in more detail, by the Local Police of Mazarrón, harassment and violence in the minors and so act accordingly with children, in collaboration with schools and other agencies involved.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, explained that "from the local police, with the arrival of the tutor agent, is working on the prevention and protection of children within and outside the school environment."
In this sense, the mayor pointed out that "since last March, the tutor agent also organized a talk truancy more than 700 high school students, demonstrating our interest in maintaining an optimal school environment in schools ".
