The Southeastern Association of Naturalists (Anse), in collaboration with the Department of Environment of the City of Mazarrón, will celebrate the 'European Day of the Nature Parks' knowing the SPA headed Duck and the Lake of the mulberry trees.
This activity is framed in LIFE09/ES/000516 project "Conservation of the White-headed Duck in the Region of Murcia. Spain" and in June 2014 environmental program organized by the Department of Environment of Mazarron council.
Specifically, this Sunday June 1st the newly declared Laguna SPAs of mulberry trees, the White-headed Duck will be starring in a day with species of European interest in inhabiting space.
To do this, Anse and the Department of Environment has organized various activities watching birds, habitat improvement work and children's activities between 9:30 and 13:30.

The space formed by the final stretch of the avenue of mulberry trees and the lake of the same name was declared a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA, a protected area that is within the Natura 2000 network) just over a month ago due to the presence of White-headed Duck (Oxyura leucocephala) and Common Gallinule (Porphyrio Porphyrio).
Within the limits of this SPA can also find some habitats of Community interest, endemic invertebrates, or other protected species at regional, national and European level, as fartet, eel, Ferruginous Duck or Marbled Teal.
The 'European Day of the Nature Parks' is celebrated on May 24 since 1999, commemorating the declaration in 1909 of the first national parks in Europe.
This year has the theme parks for Nature, Welfare and Peace and emphasizes the role of these spaces in the Conservation of Nature and well-being of people.
The LIFE09/ES/000516 project "Conservation of the White-headed Duck in the Region of Murcia. Spain" is co-financed with 75% by European funds and the Department of Environment of the City of Mazarrón is associated benefit of those actions "D. 1. Outreach in schools and social organizations "and" D.2. Programme Awareness and Information sectors of the local population, "being developed by the Association of Southeastern Naturalist (Anse).
In addition, the project involved coordinating beneficiary as DG Environment and other partners as beneficiaries, the municipalities of Molina de Segura and Alhama de Murcia.
