On 1 October, the British Ambassador in Spain, Simon Manley held a meeting with the mayor in Mazarrón Francisco García.
During the visit he met first hand the situation of the British community in the town and was looking for the quick action that have performed Council services in Camposol to restore normalcy in the areas affected by torrential rains September 24.
On return to headquarters that the British embassy has in the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, Manley wanted to show their satisfaction by writing a letter to Mayor Francisco García recognizing your cooperation in this matter and the hospitality received at the meeting that they maintained with councilors Care Abroad and Culture.
In its Manley highlights "the care received in the issues related to tourism and integration."
The British Ambassador in Spain want closer ties with Mazarrón and requests a subsequent meeting with the participation of the British associations installed in the town as well as the social workers of the area and the Consulate in Alicante.
In Mazarrón are counted 7,716 British, 5,270 of which reside in Camposol.
Over 80% of this population is retired, but maintains a very active lifestyle participating in associations working for citizen welfare such as FAST, an organization providing an important role in supporting municipal health emergencies.
