A new sporting event projects, successfully, to the outside image of the municipality |
The Estonian racer Team Astana, Rein Taaramäe XXXV winner of the Tour of Murcia Trophy proclaimed Alfonso Guzman after crossing, alone, the line installed next to the Parador de Lorca.
Taaramaäe the win after beating in just over 5 hours and 11 minutes a stage of 198 kilometers Mazarrón departed around 10:30 am on Saturday.
From early morning anticipation grew in the Avenida de la Constitución de Mazarrón point where stood the line.
One by one the 21 participating teams were going for control of signatures under the watchful eyes of his followers.
Riders from 23 different nationalities participated in this test of international character that brought prominent figures as Frank Schleck of Luxembourg, the Italian Michele Scarponi or British sprinter Mark Cavendish, plus Murcia Luis León Sánchez and Ruben Fernandez.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Garcia, officiated the traditional ribbon cutting at the start and also wanted to be present at the finish line, handing the trophy to the test runner, Dutchman Bauke Mollema.
In addition to the mayor, the start of the stage also attended the council of Sports, Public Safety and Civil Protection, Andrew James, Isidro Coy and Miguel Garcia, respectively.
Being chosen departure location, Mazarrón featured hosting several of the teams participating in the test.
Again the sport and especially cycling back to serve for the municipality is projected to the outside.
This was highlighted by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Garcia, during the development of this sporting event which also had as places of passage: Cartagena, Murcia and Totana.
El Alto del Cedacero third category and Altos de Espuña and Collado Bermejo were the main mountain heights they faced cyclists.
