The Plenum of the Murcia Regional Assembly will decide Wednesday on the consideration of legislative initiative presented by the City of Mazarrón to operate the Hospital Santa María del Rosell as a general hospital.
It is the first time the Regional Assembly declared admissible an initiative of this kind, based on a municipal council.
On May 27 the full City Council approved a legislative proposal Mazarrón asking the Regional Assembly fully functioning Hospital Santa María del Rosell.
Mazarrón belongs to the Health Area II of Cartagena and Rosell has been your referral hospital to enable the new Hospital of St. Lucia.
Over time the Rosell has reduced capacity.
According to the mayor, Francisco Garcia, "the emergency department of this hospital is limited, spaces are lost hospitalization, ICU and other services."
By being the Santa Lucia as a referral hospital and Rosell as a second hospital with "limited capabilities" public service is damaged as Francisco Garcia explains.
"This situation results in a collapse that materializes in undue waiting lists at Lucia to be attended by any specialist in large delay times for climbing plant after an emergency."
For this reason the socialist municipal group took full legislative proposal.
The motion was adopted by 11 votes in favor (PSOE and IU UIDM Green) and 8 votes against (PP).
