Throughout the weekend, Mazarrón brings together different experts and scholars Mediterranean setting within the IV International Meeting of Phicaria organized by the Popular University and the City of Mazarrón.
The appointment began on Friday with participants receiving and delivery of accreditations.
In the afternoon, Mayor, Francisco Garcia, proceeded to the official opening accompanied by Councillor for Culture, Ginés Campillo and the director of the People's University, José María López Ballesta.
Act which was used for the mayor to submit the book containing the minutes of the previous edition.
Titled "The Mediterranean ports. Contacts, Intercultural and Exchange Socioeconomic, Political and Ecological Strategies", the IV Meeting of Phicaria began with the inaugural lecture "The Phoenician ports in ancient times" by José Luis Castro Lópe University of Almería .
Later, Xabier Nieto Underwater Archaeology Centre of Catalonia spoke of "Roman port cities: Mediterranean axes structuring international trade".
To this Saturday March 7, Julio Hernández More Spanish Institute of Oceanography talks about "Traditional activities in the Mediterranean ports of XXI Century. Maria Margarita Segarra of the Università degli Studi Roma Tre delves into" The Architecture and port engineering ". In the afternoon, Jose Antonio Garcia of the University of Murcia and Daniel Castillo Hidalgo University of Las Palmas talk about the "impact on the marine environment of large infrastructures" and "The economic impact of port activities." On Sunday March 8 will turn to "New roles of the Mediterranean ports of the century" by Fernando Muñoz Bozzo of the Port Authority of Cartagena.
