Friday the book that collects stories winners in its first 30 years is presented
The Story Contest Villa de Mazarrón Antonio del Olmo Segado organized by the People's University in collaboration with the City of Mazarrón has entered its final stretch.
Thursday was presented at the session activities encompassing the 31 edition of this event.
Jose Maria Lopez Ballesta, Director of the People's University, has shelled the details of this new cultural event by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez and the Councillor for Culture, Pedro Martinez.
For this year there have been 956 works arrived from different parts of the national territory and Latin America, mainly.
In fact, the latter part of the world is the source of 36% of the stories.
But also and, according to its organizers, they have come stories of European authors, Japan and the Middle East.
After the election of the twelve finalists, the jury determines the final decision will be communicated in the coming days.
The winner gets a prize of 3,600 euros and a plaque and there is a second prize of 2,400 euros and a plaque for the second story more valued.
The awards ceremony, attended by the winners, if they reside in Spain, will be Friday July 31 in the halls of Hotel Playa Grande.
This year, moreover, the gala will be complemented with several activities and which will, inter alia, with the launch of Villa de Mazarrón Stories Winners (2005-2014), bringing together the stories that have won awards in ten last years.
It will be this Friday July 24 from 22:00 at the Hotel Playa Grande Puerto de Mazarrón.
It will also be attended writer Luis Antonio de Villena, who will deliver a lecture on Thursday, July 30 entitled "Ways and means of the story".
Villena is a known poet, degree in Romance Philology and a regular contributor to several national media.
Author of a large number of novels and works of poetry, is Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Lille and has been awarded several times.
In 1995 he received the Azorin Novel Award and in 1999 the prize Vertical Smile of erotic narrative, in addition to international poetry awards Parnassus and Generation of '27.
