The Story Contest Villa de Mazarrón Antonio del Olmo Segado organized by the Popular University and the City of Mazarrón faces its main acts week.
On Friday, July 31, from 23:00 hours, will be the award ceremony of the XXXI edition.
Last Friday released the names of the winners of the first prize and the second prize.
Fernando Villamía for "Kandinsky syndrome" proved to be the winner of the contest and Josephine Solano, the winner of the second prize for the story entitled "The old cry too."
It was also presented the third volume compilation of the winning stories from 2005 to 2014. The presentation was attended by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, who emphasized the great cultural contribution involved in this contest, as well as the projection that provides the municipality .
The Director of the People's University of Mazarrón, Jose Maria Lopez Ballesta, stressed the quality of the winning stories and acknowledged the presence of some of the winners during the event.
The event also was attended by the councilors of Culture and Education, Pedro Martinez and Patricio Sanchez, respectively.
The agenda of the XXXI edition of Tales Villa de Mazarrón-Segado Antonio del Olmo will continue next Thursday, July 30, at 22:00 hours, with a lecture by writer Luis Antonio de Villena entitled "Ways and means of the story".
Villena was one of the jury members this year.
For this year's competition were presented 956 works arrived from different parts of the national territory and Latin America, mainly.
In fact, the latter part of the world is the source of 36% of the stories.
But also and, according to its organizers, they have come stories of European authors, Japan and the Middle East.
Fernando Villamía Ugarte, born in Vitoria and living in Alicante, has proved to be the winner of the contest in 2015 with his story "syndrome Kandinsky" presented under the slogan "Larrea", for which finally receive an endowed award 3600 euros and plate.
The second prize was awarded to Solano Josefina Maldonado, Alhaurin el Grande (Malaga) for the story entitled "Old Also Cry" presented under the slogan "Anastasio Bridges".
The second prize winner will get a gifted prize of 2,400 euros and a plaque.
