The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Barnabas, along with the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, inaugurated on Wednesday the construction of a dry marina for 60 boats in the Bay Yacht Club, for the improvement and expansion of facilities nautical offshore installation of that sport.
Alicia Jimenez wanted to emphasize that this is a pioneering work in the Region of Murcia that place Mazarron as benchmark for sailing facilities are concerned.
In addition, he noted the Mayor "with the renewal Bay Yacht Club completes the offer of the marina of Puerto de Mazarrón, thus increasing the attraction of the municipality."
Francisco Bernabé highlighted "the excellent infrastructure since it is the first dry dock with shelves, installed inside a belonging to the Autonomous Region of Murcia marina, since most are located on the esplanade of the dock" .
This initiative "expands by 30 percent the organizational capacity of the marina, which had a total of 200 units of moorings," so now "has the necessary facilities to meet the challenges in the marine environment and develop their full potential ".
Acting, endowed with 332,285 euros, adds to the overall improvement works recently undertaken, with a budget of 725,374 euros.
Thus, the total investment amounts to 1,057,659 euros.
The head of the Ministry stressed that "past efforts and investments have led to the Yacht Club of Mazarrón to be today one of the reference ports of the region, which continues to strengthen its activity and growth," adding that "this action represents a competitive advantage over the rest, certifying that this port is make the most of its superb location. "
In this sense, Barnabas explained that this action "gives users a comprehensive service for the storage and custody of the boats on land, whose structure allows to place 60 boats from 5 to 9.5 meters in length, for what they have built You are shelving racks located in different modules. "
The new facilities also have an area which the services necessary to carry out the cleaning and maintenance of ships, water treatment and reuse, and a conservation area for waste management (oils, filters and batteries ).
It also provides the service of grounding, storage and launching of boats mechanically.
The Club de Regatas Mazarrón this marina dealer and promoter of investment, provides rental of boats up to 8 meters long and between 8 and 11 meters and washing vessels up to 15 meters.
It should also be remembered that the improvement works undertaken at the Yacht Club of Mazarrón in the realization of a trench 5.80 meters wide, 12 meters long and 3.50 meters deep for the 'travel lift' (motorized crane used to pull water boats) 25 tonnes for lifting and grounding of ships and ship repairing nautical with implementation of measures for waste management activity.
He also proceeded to the interior renovation of the headquarters of the Port, which included bricklaying, tiling, painting, plumbing and heating, exterior carpentry and lighting, as well as renovation of the exterior lighting with LED lighting replacement.
Similarly, the access control with the construction of a control booth on the ground floor, with barriers, ticket dispenser and ATM was improved.
During the site visit the Mayor and the Minister were accompanied by the President of the Club de Regatas, Jose Hernandez and councilors of Agriculture and Fisheries, Infrastructure, Services, Tourism and Sports, Maria Isabel Lopez, Pedro Martinez, Domingo Hernandez Maria Angeles Roman and Patricio Sanchez, respectively.
