The Ministry of Economic, Tourism and Employment of the Region of Murcia Development has announced that next September will be awarded and will start the refurbishment greenway as railway branch La Pinilla-Mazarrón.
15 km route are attached to the track 50 Totana and Cartagena within a project budget worth 2,189,423 euros, 80% financed by the ERDF and 20% for the coffers of the Autonomous Community .
The execution of the works will be 15 months, estimated completion in 2016.
Greenway Mazarrón boost ecotourism thus increasing the offer and projects the municipality in terms of routes and visits focusing on the natural environment.
The route linking Cartagena and Mazarrón will be managed by the Consortium of Greenways in the Region of Murcia, currently composed of 15 municipalities and the Ministry of Tourism.
To the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, this is a new intervention that will serve to project the municipality and to enrich the great offer that currently owns.
"Actions of this type heighten interest and increase business investment as already seen in the Northwest Greenway," said Alicia Jimenez.
