The full City Council of Mazarrón Tuesday approved a declaration of support for those affected by thalidomide, a drug marketed late 50s and early 60s, used to treat nausea in pregnant women.
Ingestion caused thousands of birth of babies affected by a birth defect affecting his limbs.
The victims, grouped in the association Avite judicially demanded compensation from the pharmaceutical, which was finally rejected by the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court, considering that such claim was prescribed.
Given the facts and in light of the situation in which those affected are all locally represented groups decided to show their support for the Avite association and the pharmaceutical claim compensation sought and urge the State to take appropriate action in defending the rights of victims.

Also, other points that received the unanimous vote of the groups in the plenary on Tuesday was the adoption of a joint motion of PSOE and IU UIDM to withdraw disciplinary proceedings against four families of Mazarrón to which he claimed not meet the requirement performing the works of a dam sludge in the mining hamlet of San Cristobal.
