The Ministry of Economic, Tourism and Employment of the Region of Murcia and Development has awarded the works contract formalized the project for upgrading the railway line Totana, Cartagena and Mazarrón-La Pinilla branch for use as a greenway.
They are 15 kilometers long path attached to total Totana-Cartagena project within a budget worth 2,189,423 euros.
Through open and regular processing procedure has been awarded the contract to the company Construcciones Sarrion SL The amount of the award has been of 1,149,228 euros.
The work was carried out with European funding (ERDF) and autonomic.
The execution of the works has provided an initial estimate of 15 months.
Greenway Mazarrón boost ecotourism thus increasing the offer and projects the municipality in terms of routes and visits focusing on the natural environment.
The route linking Cartagena and Mazarrón will be managed by the Consortium of Greenways in the Region of Murcia, currently composed of 15 municipalities and the Ministry of Tourism.
For the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, this is a new intervention will serve to project the municipality and to enrich the great offer that currently owns.
