This morning the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Director of Public Works, José Ballesta, have signed an agreement for the refurbishment and renovation of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
The amount of these works, amounting to 835,000 euros, will be funded jointly between the City of Mazarrón and the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, whose bodies each contribute fifty percent of the total.
These works involve the upgrading and beautification of the historic center of town, giving it a modern and renovated.
In the previous meeting held between the Mayor of Mazarron and the Director of Public Works and Planning together with their respective teams have addressed the priority needs of the municipality in matters such as: roads, architecture, harbors, beaches and public housing.
One of the important developments for all Mazarron is that the access roads to Puerto de Mazarrón be completed by summer 2009 and will have a characteristic such as a roundabout in the form of an ellipse.
Also, the widening of the road from Puerto Mazarron and is completing the drafting of the project.
Two lanes in each direction and new roundabouts are some of the features present this action will benefit the transition to Mazarron and tourists.
Another action to be undertaken shortly by the Ministry of Public Works in the town will be the preparation of the D-4, in particular, Lewis Road, which is in the process of tendering for the start of construction, consisting the adequacy of the curves.
In ports and coasts has dealt with the preparation of Francisco Martínez Muñoz Paseo, Paseo del Rihuete and the Plaza of the Autonomous Communities whose wording of the project will be completed next December.
As for the second phase of the Marina also worth noting that they will start work on access from the marina to the fishing port.
These last two actions will complement the redevelopment of Puerto de Mazarrón, including from the fishing port to the Paseo del Rihuete.
The Ministry of Public Works and Planning also undertake a promotion of 18 public housing units, comprised of a total area of 3,282 square meters, which may decide the locals.
After the meeting with the media, the Director of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, together with the CEOs of its branch held their Board in Mazarrón on the Board of Town Hall Meetings.
The day continued with a visit to Blaya and Ballesta on the road to Puerto de Mazarrón, the disclosures of Puerto de Mazarrón, promenades Francisco Martínez Muñoz and Rihuete, the recent construction of the craft in the fishing port of Mazarrón and the Marina.
Team of the City Government has managed the investment of more than 22 million euros from the Ministry of Public Works and Planning for the municipality in 2006 and 2007.
