Her Royal Highness the Infanta Doña Cristina has opened National Museum of Underwater Archaeology Cartagena (arching) in a ceremony which was attended by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, as the jewel of the museum are the remains of the Phoenician wreck I Mazarrón .
This piece, dating from the seventh century BC, is part of one of the most ancient Phoenician ships in the world, found in the Mazarron coast.
The event was also attended by Minister of Culture, César Antonio Molina, the Government Delegate, Angel Gonzalez Tovar, the Minister of Culture, Pedro Alberto Cruz and the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro.

This is the first public museum whose business focuses on underwater archeology, which shows visitors through a permanent exhibition, which is able to know exactly what the underwater cultural heritage, how it protects, is excavated and preserved and what gives us knowledge about our past.
The National Museum of Underwater Archaeology, located in the Paseo del Muelle Alfonso XII, No. 22, held until Saturday, November 30, an open day at which they can attend free all people interested in this matter.
