The "Spaces Tallinn: social integration workshops for immigrants" being conducted by the Department of Social Policy, Women, Elderly, Disability and Immigration Mazarrón City Council, in collaboration with the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle" since October 2007 and is now in its second phase of the operation is developing educational workshops with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle among young people of Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón.
Spaces Tallinn, which are located in Mazarrón (Center for Integration and Social Participation in urb. La Canada) and Puerto de Mazarrón (Socio Resource Center C / San Hilario) Various activities for free in the afternoon (from 16.30 to 19.30) Monday to Friday aimed at young people between 6 and 16.
Within the daily operation of the spaces we Tallinn He notes the development of the following activities: Improving Classroom Education, Educational Workshops, Creative Workshops, Board Games, Reading Corner, Cultural Events and Activities, etc.
Within the programming made for the first two months of 2009 was chosen as a priority line of action and the Promotion of Health Education and Development of a Healthy Life.
Based on the development of this objective we develop various activities and workshops that follow:
Healthy snacks and workshop on the Food Pyramid.
Information and awareness on the importance of using contraception and sexually transmitted diseases.
Debates on Abortion and Euthanasia.
Screening of short films, video and discussion forum on gender violence and male-female equality.
Relaxation and Laughter Therapy workshops.
Development of physical education sessions in a gym employee (spinning classes and taekwondo).
From the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle" is a very positive assessment of results being obtained with the activities.
So the result is very encouraging to both quantitative data, which are an average of 100 young people who enjoy this resource every day as well as a qualitative level as in young people and children involved there is a significant change in attitudes and habits.
Has obtained an improvement in social competence of the participants since this project began in October 2007, we now see young people able to accept rules, taking turns to speak, solve problems or conflicts nonviolently, to participate actively in the development of the activities, collaborating with educators and the school itself, the ability to work together, take initiative for the development of other activities, etc.
For all this we consider of vital importance to recognize the effort that is made from the public, in this case from the City of Mazarrón, so that these initiatives can be carried out, involvement is demonstrated not only the financing of activities but also through the coordination and ongoing technical support.
