This morning the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Director of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Director General of Carrreteras, José Antonio Guijarro, presided over the start of the refurbishment of the RM-D4 .
The ceremony was attended various authorities, among which were members of the Governing Body of the City of Mazarron, and residents of the area.
These works trace conditioning and road safety improvements in the D-4, between mile markers 3.5 and 9.2 of the municipality of Mazarrón, connects to the MU-603, Mazarrón round, and the D -8, from which you can access the town of Lorca.
The work, consisting of widening the road and the minimization of the curves, will benefit over 600,000 people a year traveling this road.
The enhancement and improvement of the section will increase the radius of existing curves to reduce the risk of accident and shoulders extending and improving the additions to the track.
The works to be undertaken in two phases, will involve improvements in the quality of life for all residents living or working in the districts of Lewis Mazarron and La Atalaya, as well as passing on this road to access Majada and Gańuelas or hamlet Lorca Morata.
The first phase, a company hired to Murcia for an amount of 1,029,495 euros, will improve a stretch of six kilometers, while the second account with an amount of 1,380,269 euros for its implementation.
In both cases, such as additional road safety measures will be expanded and improved shoulders additions to the road and drains, signs and markings, thus achieving a more secure path that meets the current needs of traffic area.
