Mazarrón City Council has recently requested, after approval by the City Council, its integration into the Public Transport Authority (EFA), composed of the Ministry of Public Works and Land Management and many towns in the region.
The Public Transport Authority was established by the Autonomous Community in order to coordinate actions related to transport in the Region of Murcia, to ensure the right to mobility for citizens with a degree of quality and sustainability homologous to other areas similar in Europe.
Law 3 / 2006 of 8 May, which created the EFA is based on the belief that the creation of a body concentration of powers will allow the gradual introduction of rational and efficient solutions to the problems of transport in very dynamic demographic, economic and social.
Currently, the Public Transport Authority is composed of the Ministry of Public Works, and the municipalities of Murcia, the first municipality to join last December, Calasparra, Villanueva del Río Segura, Lorquí, Fortuna, Blanca, Las Torres de Cotillas, Bullas and Ricote, who joined the municipalities of Abarán, Alguazas, Archena, Cehegín, La Union, Torre Pacheco and Ulea.
Also soon be integrated in Cartagena, Lorca, Santomera, Puerto Lumbreras, Sewer, Moratalla, Mula, Alhama de Murcia, Ceuta, Molina de Segura and Totana, to reach the target, as the managing director of EFA, that this entity inclusive of all municipalities in the region, in order to universalize rates and make them compatible.
