The Director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, today visited the first phase of the works of the road between Lorca and Mazarrón and aims to improve access from the western region to the beaches of that environment.
Guijarro said "this is the first of two projects to be implemented in this way during the coming months as it is a major route between the two municipalities with an investment of the regional executive of 2.4 million euros."
In this sense, the director general added that "it is intended to facilitate communications among numerous villages belonging to the two towns and their connection with various public services."
"And with this way, the citizens of the western part of the Region of Murcia, mainly those of Lorca, will have better access to the beaches of Mazarrón" said Guijarro.
Is scheduled to perform on the design of road and extend its platform to nine meters radius to soften the most dangerous curves in order to minimize the risk of accidents.
It has also planned additional measures to increase road safety berms, drainage, signs and buoys "to a safer path and responsive to current traffic needs in the area," said the CEO.
In this regard, he stressed that "the regional government thus continues its commitment to improving the quantity, through the opening of new roads and highways to the coast, but also qualitative improving road safety and comfort of the already existing provide citizens of the region a safe environment while traveling. Improvements to the regional economy
On the other hand, the general manager recalled that this pathway also has an important agricultural use by residents of the parishes of Lewis Mazarron and La Atalaya, as well as passing through this road to access the flock and Gańuelas or the hamlet Lorca Morata.
Guijarro said: "This road will facilitate the export of goods through this corridor between Mazarrón Lorca and to achieve greater competitiveness of our fruit and vegetables, something of great importance for the regional government."
Guijarro concluded that "the work will involve 50 jobs, which is important for the regional government that, through this and other works in progress thanks to the Promotion Plan, has put the Region of Murcia at the head of communities Spanish regions by increasing public works contract in 2009 compared to 2008.
