The Festival Fairgrounds has hosted the unique celebration of 'Day of the Mayor' with the participation of more than five hundred people.
In a relaxed atmosphere, the elderly have enjoyed a day of celebration in which the food, dance, music, raffles and awards ceremony of the competitive examinations have been the principal notes of the evening.
The seniors have signed up to the fairgrounds due to free transport, enabled by the City of Festivals, by train that made several stops throughout the morning in places like Barrio del Salitre, the Plaza del Convento, stop Mazarrón bus and Mazarrón Day Centre.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Councillor for Fiestas, Luisa María Heredia and members of the government team has wrapped up its presence this act aimed at the elderly, which has been made by the Director of Municipal Senior Center, Miguel Angel Rodriguez.
In the afternoon the elders have been involved in the election of the Queen and King of the Third Age 2009, one of the favorite moments for all seniors.
This year's winners were Carmen Martín and Antonio Mora, Queen and King of the Third Age 2009, respectively.
The Department of Fiestas del Ayuntamiento de Mazarrón welcomed the broad participation shown by the older citizens of the municipality, who with his constancy and perseverance contribute to extol the festive spirit of the citizens.
