This morning the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Director of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, have laid the foundation stone of a social housing development in Barrio San Jose de Puerto de Mazarrón.
The land on which they will build the houses is the same in which over 30 years have been installed manufactured homes that were built in the 70's to relocate temporarily to citizens of the District of civilizations that lost their homes because of flooding.
The Community will build this new social housing development, consisting of two groups of six and seven houses, which occupy an entire block to be built on a plot of 1,356 square meters, donated by the town of Mazarrón the Housing and Land Institute ( IVS) in the Region of Murcia.
The work, which aims to provide decent housing for 13 families with limited financial resources, it also includes the adaptation and regeneration of the district of San José de Puerto de Mazarrón.
The Regional Government will finance the action with 1,164,555 euros, which will provide a better quality of life for families with older Mazarron economic and social difficulties.
These works, which represent an important step for those families who are at risk of social exclusion, see the light at the beginning of 2011.
