The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, today made the first stone construction of new boardwalks and Francisco Martínez Muñoz Rihuete de Mazarrón, a project that has with a total budget of 2,246,310 euros.
José Ballesta said: "The action affects a stretch of 1,190 meters in length and involves the remodeling of two contiguous rides located in the town of Puerto de Mazarrón, so that improving these routes will get revitalize business and commerce of the area and boost tourism in the coastal town. "
The project includes the construction of a bike lane of 1,186 meters and the creation of new gardens and recreational areas, as well as the rearrangement of traffic and the creation of new parking bands Rihuete Avenue, accompanied by an improvement of access to existing parking.
In this regard, the Minister stressed that "the pedestrian area will exceed 22,000 square meters, while the landscaped areas will reach the 1,170, giving a star to pedestrians and sports and leisure activities."
In addition, the project includes the adaptation of different urban elements to facilitate access to the coast to the disabled.
It is also envisaged the creation of a playground and a fitness trails and ample space for recreation for seniors.
It will also carry out the relocation and improvement of tourist information facilities, toilets and changing rooms.
The works, which have a lead time of nine months both in summer will be cut to avoid disturbing the residents and vacationers, also include the installation of new pavement along the two pathways and remodeling current urban furniture and lighting network.
Finally, the Minister stressed that these works "the Community combines the accessibility and functionality of this urban space with new alternatives for the residents and the thousands of tourists who annually visit our shores to enjoy the scenery and the Mediterranean coast.
In addition, the project will provide a quality infrastructure to serve citizens with respect for the aesthetics of landscape, ensuring their integration into the social fabric and urban Mazarron.
