The mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Director of Public Works and Territory Management, José Ballesta, have been this morning the first stone for the construction of new boardwalks and Francisco Martínez Muñoz Rihuete de Mazarrón.
The works, which represent an investment of 2,246,310 million euros from the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, will revitalize business and commerce in the area and boost tourism in the municipality.
The project, consisting of 22,000 square meters of pedestrian area, includes the construction of a bike lane of 1,186 meters and the creation of new gardens and recreational areas, as well as the rearrangement of traffic and the creation of new bands on the street parking Rihuete of which will be accompanied by improved access to existing parking.
It is also envisaged the creation of a children's playground and fitness trails and ample space for recreation for seniors.
It will also carry out the relocation and improvement of tourist information facilities, toilets and changing rooms.
The works, which have an implementation period of 9 months the two summer months which will be discontinued to avoid causing inconvenience to residents and vacationers, also include the installation of new pavement along the promenades and remodeling the existing street furniture and lighting network.
